Volunteering at the 2019 London Marathon

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with #TeamHeadsTogether on London Marathon day! We really appreciate your support.

Why we need you:

Our amazing #TeamHeadsTogether runners are taking on a marathon to change the conversation on mental health. They need you support to help get them across the finish line! For just a few hours cheering, you’ll be helping us to break the stigma attached to mental health.

What skills and attributes do I need to have?

  • Lots of enthusiasm
  • The ability to make lots of noise and make sure Heads Together are the loudest supporters on the course!

What will I be doing?

You will be part of our cheering team located on the race route, responsible for cheering and supporting the runners; encouraging them to keep going! Please feel free to bring friends and family along to help support the team and enjoy the event with you. We do ask volunteers to commit to the duration of their shift time.

What support will I be given?

We’ll give you everything you need to cheer on our runners – cheering sticks, flags and foam fingers – as well as a free Heads Together t-shirt and all-important headband! We’ll also provide you with refreshments and on the day support through a Cheering Team Leader.

Heads Together will have three cheer points at the following locations:

  • Mile 7 – Cutty Sark
    • Shift time 09:00 – 12:00
  • Mile 13/22 – Wapping/Tower Gateway
    • Shift time: 11:00 – 15:30
  • Mile 25 – Embankment
    • Shift time 12:00 – 16:00

‘Meet & Greeters’ will meet and congratulate our Heads Together runners as they’re making their way from the finish line after running the marathon.  All of our Heads Together runners have been invited to our postrace reception, and meet and greeters will walk them to the venue and help carry their bags/support them in any way that they need.

  • Location near the Mall
  • Shift time: 11:00 – 17:00

Before signing up please read our volunteer code of conduct here.

Please complete the form below and we will be in touch in due course with more information and confirmation on your location.
